Reading Rewards

If I reward my child for reading will the rewards take away my child's inherent desire to read?

About Reading Rewards

If I reward my child for reading will the rewards take away my child’s inherent desire to read?

In the video Heather Ross, the author of www.FirstStepReading.com, answers this question.

Heather’s children have had a Reading Reward Chart and they receive up to 3 points a Reading Lesson based on their concentration and effort. After they received 20 Reading Points they get a toy from a dollar type store.

Heather’s children love to learn. They push themselves and try their best when learning. Heather has not found her rewards to negatively impact her children’s love of learning.

Heather does not feel it is wrong to reward a child for working hard to learn to read but it is up to each parent on whether or not he/she believes in rewards for Reading.
