Letter Recognition is the names of the Uppercase and Lowercase letters. A child needs to know letters so that he/she can identify letters in text.
A common way to begin to teach Letter Recognition is to sing the Traditional Alphabet song very slowly with your child and as you sing each letter point to each Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Flashcard (Letter Flashcards).
For additional practice, say a letter and ask your child to point to the correct Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Flashcard (Letter Flashcards).
For small children who are not ready for the technical terms of Uppercase and Lowercase, I find it best to use terms they can relate to. I use the term Daddy Letters for Uppercase Letters and Baby Letters for Lowercase Letters. The technical terms can later be taught but this way the child is not concerned about the size font of the letters
